deliberatly fanny about for change on purpose so that you say keep the change? last night my chinese was 6.20 and i gave her 10.00 but she took so long and i wanted to just eat it that i said keep the change.she looked like shed won the bloody lotteryDo takeaway delivery drivers?
they are not daft are they
No, you were just impatient.Do takeaway delivery drivers?
i guess cuz they need the money
They probably don't get paid a lot our chinese take-away is just round the corner from me and they charge a pound for delivery so there is no way i would give a tipDo takeaway delivery drivers?
You should of just let her keep it anyhow, saves you the time.
thats how they make there money
OH MY GOD!!!
I KNOW!!!
they do take the p.i.s.s dont they my indian delivery guy does it all the time sometimes he says oh im short on the change i will give it to you next time, he done 2 times in a row so i rang the indian to complain and got a free starter but thats not the point i said so i told them not to send that driver again!!!
yes i think they do just like the waitress' at sonic
My mate used to do deliveries for a chinese takeaway and I occasionaly kept him company, he puprosefully used to add 拢1 more than he was supposed to and would tell people he had no change just to make an extra quid.
Tell you what though, the chinese had the funniest thing I have ever seen in its window, some customer asked them if they could put up a lost poster in their window.
It said have you seen this cat and had a picture of it.
You couldn't make it up!!
Next time.....Ask them if they do free home delivery...if yes...pay for the meal and hitch a free ride home....it's cheaper that a cab..LOL
cause we're all after something for nothing!
When you're earning that kind of money you have to do something
They already charge an extra quid for delivery. Grrrrrrrrrrrrit makes me so mad ....
Take-away drivers etc., do not carry large amounts of cash, so that if they get robbed or mugged, then they don't lose too much money.
They get crap wages and so need every penny they can get.
When ever I order take-away.
I always have the correct money for the order ready, and a couple of quid for a tip.
Because they always get a tip, I always get an excellent service.
A three pound eighty tip...no wonder she looked like she won the lottery! I deliver Indian takeaways, and rely on tips to help pay for the petrol! Last night I had 拢1.83 after 5 hours driving. Other nights I've had six or seven pounds from maybe 4-5 deliveries. We rely on tips...if it came to 拢6.20, why not say 'make it seven'? They've always got pound couns on them...and we do appreciate the tips!....Honest!
The answer, in short, is "yes".
I have been a (food) delivery driver, and the fact is, a great percentage of your income depends of how well customers tip. Depending on the country/city you live in, the hourly wages that drivers are paid might vary, but tips are really the "bread and butter" of a delivery driver.
Of course, it's also a matter of common sense, courtesy, and judgement (I have known drivers who possess NONE of these qualities). If someone's total for food is (as in your case) $6.20, and (unlike you) they use a $20 to pay, it should be common sense that they do NOT intend to tip the driver $13.80. But some, less tactful drivers might ask, "did you want any change back?"
If it were me (doing the delivering) in that case, I'd start by giving the customer the $10 bill. Then I'd start to sort of fumble around, looking for the $1 bills. The idea is to give the customer the opportunity to say "thats OK, just keep it", before you've actually given back ALL of his change. The secret is to make it look natural, ie, not to appear as though you're hesitating...just trying to be careful and accurate with the money.
no idea
Probably..... and I think taxi drivers would also be some of the wisest people when it comes to social interaction.
They need to use their skills (some of them have them) to avoid being killed or beaten, to enjoy some reasonable rapport with the arseholes that would insult them while they are rendering an invaluable service, and to retain your loose change to supplement their meagre income.
Probably. I think that is how they make their money. I am a mean git and always ask the takeaway to tell me in advance how much it will be, so I can have as close to the right money as possible!!!!
this is a test from our lord jesus christ, and is a lesson in patience.
